  • How to setup CNICK payment ring? open close

There are two options for connecting your payment card to the ring: Online and through the Android app. Unfortunately, this cannot be done through the iOS app due to Apple restrictions with NFC.

    Android:

    • Download the Fidesmo app on your Android mobile device.
    • Next turning on NFC on your device, open the Fidesmo app, and select 'connect’ and then hold the ring against the back of the phone.
    • Connect to the service by selecting CNICK and enter your email address and card information.
    • Accept terms and conditions and hold the ring against the back of the phone again to complete the connection.
    • Last step is to activate the connected payment card by verifying a code sent to your phone number. After that you can make payment with the ring.

    Online:

    • During checkout, select 'connect card' which will redirect you to the Fidesmo Pay page.
    • Confirm 'connect card' and enter your email address and card information.
    • Verify your card and click complete.
    • You will also receive a link to connect your card to the ring, in case you prefer to do it at a later time.

If you connect your card to the ring online when you receive your ring, there will be a QR code in the box. You can scan this code with an Android or iOS device to activate the ring.

  • Who is Fidesmo? open close

Our partner, Fidesmo, provides tokenization and provisioning services. Provisioning is the process of writing card information into the ring, allowing customers to make payments without opening a new bank account for ring. Essentially, the ring is linked to the card and ring payment transactions will appear in the card transaction that is connected to ring.

  • I am having trouble activating CNICK ring and receiving SMS codes while using my Curve card. open close

There is a known issue with Curve. If the user activates the physical card before activating the ring, the token on the ring with the virtual card data becomes invalid, which prevents SMS codes from being sent. It's important to note that the virtual card provided by Curve during registration does not have the same data (PAN, expiration date, CVV) as the physical card.

To activate Curve, there are two options:

    • If you have the physical Curve card, please activate it first (if it's not already activated) and then use the physical card data to connect your payment card to the ring during checkout.
    • If you don't have the physical Curve card, please use the virtual card data to connect your payment card to the ring during checkout. In this case, please avoid activating the physical card until the ring has been activated and used at least once.

If you've connected your virtual Curve card to the ring during checkout, but later obtained a physical Curve card and activated it before activating the ring, you'll need to remove the ring and connect it again with your physical card via Android.

  • How secure is connecting a card online before the ring is shipped? open close

Connecting your card online before your ring is shipped is very secure. We do not have access to your card information. When you connect your card after checkout, a reference of the card is created, called a token. The token information, along with any sensitive financial information, is kept and managed only by VISA or MasterCard. Additionally, your wearable cannot be used for payments until you receive and activate it, so there is no need to worry. Once you receive the CNICK ring, you will find an activation note with a QR code inside the packaging. Scan the QR code with your phone and follow the instructions to activate payments on your wearable. The activation process may vary depending on the bank. After activation, your wearable is ready to make contactless payments.

  • Is CNICK ring payment secure? open close

Yes, CNICK ring payment is very secure. When you connect a payment card to your CNICK ring, a token is created, which can only be used on your wearable and not online or anywhere else. This means that your wearable is protected against skimming. The token card number is also cryptographically connected to that specific wearable, so it cannot be used on any other wearable, protecting you from fraudulent behaviors. In summary, payments with CNICK ring are even more secure than paying with a physical payment card, where the card number can be used both in-store and online.

  • How durable is the CNICK ring? open close

The CNICK ring is highly durable and is almost impossible to break by dropping or gripping. While it is not weak or delicate, it is recommended to keep the polished finish looking nice over the coming years. Good ring care starts by avoiding exposure to harsh chemicals and rough treatment, such as wearing the ring while lifting weights or operating machinery, which can compromise the finish and integrity of the ring itself. The finish is the most important factor in keeping the ring in good condition, and if it is compromised, water can penetrate the wood, damaging the ring from the inside. However, the ring can withstand activities such as showering, hand washing, and swimming.
